I love a good MEME

I've been tagged by lovely Leigh, which is just as well as I haven't done one for a while. I like a good meme.

What were you doing 10 years ago?

Being a divorced, single mum living on a council estate wondering how the hell I got there. I was writing (tentatively) and juggling a part-time job with a college course and doing occasional Internet Dating. Ooh, the tales I could tell!

Five things on your to-do list for today:

1) Go to work and Be Nice In Face of Continuing Complaints
2) Buy something designed to remove tango-tan from knees
3) Put the ruddy mirror back on the wall in the front room
4) Try new flapjack recipe
5) Take son to his Prom-night and refrain from kissing his cheeks in front of his friends.

What are three of your bad habits?
Bad habits? What bad habits? Tut.

1) Tutting
2) Forgetting what I’m doing half-way upstairs
3) Hanging the washing out when I should be setting off to work

What would you do if you were a billionaire?

The usual.
Invent a time machine so I could visit other countries without travelling.
Pay a man to do odd jobs round the house.
Fund research into a cure for Grey Hair.
Self-publish my book and pay Prestigious Writers to gush about it in the press.
Oh and sort out family and friends, donate to autism charities and bring about world peace.

What are some snacks you enjoy?

1) Flapjacks
2) Victoria sponge cake with butter-cream
3) Chocolate buttons
4) Toast and strawberry jam
(I have the palate of a pasty-faced infant)

What were the last five books you read?

1) Mummy said the F-Word – Fiona Gibson (hi-larious)
2) Love Falls – Esther Freud
3) This Charming Man – Marian Keyes
4) What Was Lost – Catherine O’Flynn
5) Eye Contact – Cammie McGovern

What are five jobs you have had?

1. Potato picker
2. Book-keeper/typist
3. Pub manager
4. Newsagents assistant
5. Librarian

How incredibly dull that sounds. Let’s try again

1) Neurosurgeon
2) Horse Whisperer
3) P. Diddy’s stylist 2000-2002
4) Principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet
5) Binman

That’s better

Five places you’ve lived
1) North Yorkshire
2) Oxfordshire
3) Buckinghamshire
4) Cloud Cuckoo Land
5) Er…

God, I'm a lot more boring than I gave myself credit for. I do apologise.

Because I’m incredibly nosy I challenge Lane, Sprialskies, Tommo and Jumbly Girl to come up with something more interesting.

Chocolate buttons...yum yum yum

Sorry you couldn't link to the Thirty somethings site Karen, the coloured words in the post were not a link as it did odd things to the spacing, there is a link at the side of my blog if you want to have a look sometime.

Horrid blogger just ate my comment.

It went something like this:

Internet dating? Tell, tell.

Nothing wrong with tutting, I do it quite a bit.

I love a good meme too and that was a very good meme.

10 years ago - internet dating! Did it work? Do tell.

What are the property prices like in Cloud Cuckoo Land? I'm thinking of a permanent move.

Hope son has a good prom. You must be so proud:-)

ps hope flapjacks were successful:-)

I love memes. I loved flapjacks (as long as they are soft and not crunchy) and I really love Victoria Sponge.

I particularly liked your 'five jobs you have done' answers: all of them.

Love your updated job list!!

Very funny Karen. And informative. Who in their right mind would have divorced you. Oh, hang on, you must have dumped him!

I'm there with Lane, do tell more about the Internet dating! I'd be a happy bunny if they figured out the cure for grey hairs, oh yes I would...

Must check out the Fiona Gibson book - I could do with some funny before bed.

Internet dating eh? Oh, come on, you can't dangle that and expect us to leave you in peace about it? Tell us all!

(And ta for the tag)

Karen. This was not boring it was great. Now, if you're talking boring I am doing exactly the same now as I was ten years ago, and I've only ever lived in the same town.

Holy moses Clarkey, I can't blinkin' remember what I did last week let alone 10 years ago. But I will ponder. Internet dating! Interesting! Tommox

mickmouse - I did find it in the end - lovely writing :o)

debs - Blogger's greedy like that. As for the Internet Dating...met some lovely chaps (but not rightfor me) and some right weirdos!

lane - Prices are quite low in CCL - the Credit Crunch hasn't bitten yet!
Internet Dating was odd and ultimately unsatisfying because, no matter how well you got on with someone via email (I would only correspond with men who could spell properly, she says primly) meeting in 'real life' was, without exception, a let-down :o( I met Mr Right in the end. But not via t'Internet.

helenmh - I would happily live on cake, but prefer home-made. Basically, I bake cakes and eat 'em.

jj - I'm forever making flapjacks (sung to the tune of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles)but they don't last long in this house. Thanks to me. I prefer them soft as well :o)

casdok - I think the updated list was rather more interesting!

ernest - I DID dump him. He was 'no better than he ought to be' as my gran would have said. DID say, in fact :o)

yvonne - Re:Internet Dating...see above :o)
Grey hair...fine on men, not so flattering on ladies!

sprialskies - It really is funny. So is Little While Lies, by Bernadette Strachan.
I can't believe I 'did' Internet Dating, looking back (see above) Naturally I was talked into it by a 'friend.' Actually, the friend became hooked on chatrooms and nearly destroyed her own marriage - I'd forgotten about that !!

tommo - I have an unnaturally long memory. I can clearly remember my gran popping her head round the bedroom door to tell me I had a new baby brother, but my mum swears I can't do as I was only 18 months old at the time. I do though. So there.

I thought that was a particularly good period for P Diddy, now I know why!

Nice snacks, I could binge quite happily on all of those.

Karen said...

maddie - Yes, it was all down to me ;o) Binge-eating flapjacks has got to stop - I can't keep blaming the children for eating them all!

Excellent! There is nothing boring about you! Orange fake tan thing - I can never get that damn stuff to look natural either. I liked the way you updated your job list. Victoria sponge - essential it has butter cream and prefably made by my mate Lyn whose sponges are so huge and light that I'd swear they were genetically modified! I can make flapjacks though. I learnt a couple of recipies for my GI diet. But still prefer the recipies that include a slab of butter. Kat :-)

I love Memes too and yours wasn't boring, it was very good and funny. I did the same one and it was humourless I have to say.

Yes I too have been a nuerosurgeon. I am now an astronaut.

Great witty meme.

Karen said...

katw - My knees are still tangerine! All that talk of lovely cake has made me hungry now :o)

cait - Well, I'm going to have to pop over and have a look at yours now!

mob - Astronaut! I knew there was something I'd left off the list :o)

Not boring at all, very funny, in fact. Been accused of having residence in Cloud Cuckoo land myself.

The tales I could tell... Please do!
