Heartwarmer

Read in the paper today that author Lorna Page (left) has had her first novel, Dangerous Weaknesses, published at the grand old age of 93!! Yay, there's hope for me yet. The best bit is, she's spent all the proceeds on a house large enough for her elderly mates to move out of their care homes and come and live with her.
Altogether now.... Awwwwwwwwwww! Warms your cockles it does. Not to mention your heart.

Mum's here 'til Sunday so I'm posting this Surreptitiously. Not that she'd mind in the least, but you know what it's like when you've got visitors. You can't possibly sidle off to sit in front of the PC for eight hours straight.

Can you?

I can. If they're fool enough to come in, they take the consequences...

By 'eck, you don't need a good story to warm those cockles - they could be warmed quite sufficiently in that wig!

Oh, I know it's mean. But it makes a change. First Cheggers, now Lorna Page. I know. Callous. Bite me. (ooh, ouch!)

tam - Good point :o)

mrs c - I shouldn't laugh, but I know what you mean. Be nice - you might need to move in with her one day. Or maybe not, considering she's 93!

lily - It doesn't sound right does it? Might have to turn to crime writing instead :o)

jj - Not a bad idea. Pensioner-lit maybe!

anna - It's a lovely story - good luck to her :o)

annie bright - Me too - only 10 years to go though...

dumdad - What a lady. Not sure I'd be that generous!

helenmh - Ah, there's method in your madness!!

They do say it's an endurance test this writing lark but I think my fingers will have dropped off by the time I'm 93. Good for her.

I saw a bit about her on tv and she said that you have to get a move on and do what you want to whilst you have time.

I know the feeling, was having Internet withdrawal symptoms when my parents were over!

Luckily most of the visitors we have love to come in my study/writing room so they can look at all the books. So they browse and read and I log on.

We had visitors tonight - 2 girls 15 & 18. They sat in here reading all my 'My Little Pony' books and magazines. They've gone home now and they said they were going to watch a My Little Pony film in bed.

It's good to know the (fairly) oldies are still the goodies.

Ah I am so buying that book! What a lovely story thanks for raising my spirits. Good luck with the guests and writing - can I recommend microwaving everything and claiming it takes three hours of slaving over stove as writing cover.

I'm just the same as you if I can't get to the computer.

That was a very heartwarming story about the 93 year old.

debs - That's bloomin' good advice :o)

yvonne - I've almost forgotten how to use the keys!

patp - Visitors all gone now, so I can roam the Internet at leisure!!

kerry - That's a great idea, wish I'd thought of that! My mum's suspicious of microwaves though...

fionnuala - Just shows it's never too late, but I still think I'd rather get a move on NOW!

cait o'connor - I've had very twitchy fingers :o)

casdok - We all need friends like that!

fiona - I wouldn't be surprised! Great story.

Oh, I can identify with your wanting to "sidle off" to bond with your PC. My sister has been staying with me for over a month and she doesn't understand me sneaking away. I should be watching TV with her. Miss that blogging!

faye - I know! My brother didn't mind, but my mum doesn't understand the attraction either. Still, they've all gone home now...
