The Best Book in the World

I came across this on emerging writer's excellent blog and it made me smile - ironically. Let's just say it's a bit close to home!

I think I'll try and stick to writing a 'reasonably enjoyable book' instead. Or even 'a book'.

Ha! That's brilliant. Love it! And you're right about it being close to home. It's so easy to fantasise about your book being in the bookshops and so very, very hard to sit down and write it!

Oh and let's not forget how you set off to write the 'best book ever' and by the time you've finished you're seriously wondering if you've written the 'worse book ever'! Gah!

Haha! I've done the author's jacket 'pose' too many times for it not to be close to home. I've even practiced the interview for the magazines!

calistro - Exactly! I'm in 'serious doubt' mode at the moment :(

kallioppe - Is it wrong to have imagined talking about your book on TV??

Ha ha! That's definitely striking a few chords!

So funny! And yes, uncomfortably true:-)

I'll settle for a book too - a finished book would be good:-)

That was hilarious. I think I've probably succeeded in writing the 'most mediocre book ever' in my attempt at writing 'the best book ever'.

Mind you I do know who I'm going to dedicate it to and who I shall acknowledge at the front of the book...

Hi, Just dropped in on your site via Yvonnes one. Have been surfing blogs today. Really liked this clip and as an aspiring writer too - funny but CLOSE to home! F

That was brilliant, nail on the head!

A reasonably good short story would do me.

I just left a post and blogger ate it! It went something like this.

Oo-er. This is a bit too close to home. I'd better tear up my list of invites to the book launch, then?
